Why Sherri?
Dentistry does not exist in a vacuum. Every patient—and every provider—brings their mental health, life experiences, stressors, and vulnerabilities into the operatory. Yet mental health remains one of the most overlooked and least discussed aspects of oral healthcare.
Sherri Lukes brings more than four decades of experience in dentistry and nearly thirty years in academia to the stage, offering a rare and deeply informed perspective on the intersection of mental health, oral health, and ethical patient care. Her programs challenge dental professionals to look beyond procedures and protocols and to better understand the human beings they serve—and the emotional toll the profession itself can take.
Known for her ability to combine evidence-based education with powerful real-life stories, Sherri’s presentations resonate long after the course ends. Her work addresses suicide awareness, burnout, trauma, stigma, and the psychological realities that affect both patient outcomes and professional longevity.
Sherri speaks to dental hygienists, dentists, educators, students, and interdisciplinary teams who are ready to have honest, meaningful conversations—and who want tools they can use immediately.
